Community Grants proving popular

At the most recent of our Finance Committees, the councillors considered a number of grant applications and approved a total of £6,829 in funds to support community groups in Macclesfield.

In those approved was the Macclesfield Boys’ Boxing Club, St Michael’s Church and Upton Priory Church (Church of the Resurrection).

The Boys Boxing Club received a grant of £2,000 towards new equipment for the training gym and St Michael’s received £2,000 for the installation of a suitable system to enable them to continue lighting the chandalier. The Church of the resurrection at Upton Priory is undergoing a massive refurbishment to refit the building as a community hub with meeting rooms, a new kitchen and improved access for people with mobility problems. Macclesfield Town Council’s grant will support the completion of this large scale project which will be open to the whole community.

Other grants approved this month include Friends for Leisure providing activities for kids in Macclesfield and PA and event equipment for Cheshire Streetwise.

The community grant scheme is open to any organisation looking to or already providing services to the community in Macclesfield. For more information click here.
