Cllr Janet Jackson MBE

Central Ward

Services Committee (Chair)

Cllr Janet Jackson Mbe

My name is Janet Jackson and I have represented Central Ward for more than 25 years.

I was first elected in 1991 to represent Central Ward on what was then Macclesfield Borough Council and was inspired to get into politics after attending a poll tax march. As a Labour Party member I wanted to make a difference for the area in which I lived. I’ve represented Central Ward for more than 25 years.

It’s said life begins at forty and with my election to Macclesfield Borough Council in 1991 my political life began.

I then continued to serve on Cheshire East Council until retiring in 2019 and have been a member of Macclesfield Town Council from it’s inception in May 2015.

Having been twice granted the honour of serving as Mayor for my home Town of Macclesfield, it’s been a privilege to be able to support and help the many local organisations in our community.
