Back in February 2022, we adopted two Heritage phone boxes outside of Macclesfield Town Hall.
We knew from the start that we would like to turn them into something creative.
Housed within a pair of historic red K6 telephone boxes, they opened in 2022 as a unique gallery, curated by Lucie Fitzpatrick. This special gallery is accessible 24/7 and showcases vibrant community driven displays.
Rotating exhibitions have included nostalgic ‘Macclesfield Memories’ and the immersive ‘Phone calls from the past’ exhibition which allowed viewers to listen to fictional conversations from local women via QR activated audio.
It is becoming a fantastic platform for both new and established local creatives to engage the public in Macclesfield’s rich history and culture, reflecting the unique pride and spirit of the town.
