Macclesfield Town Council - Park Fit Runners

Parkrun/Junior Parkrun

We believe in making activity the fun and easy option for people in the Town and parkrun fits perfectly with this ethos.

parkrun’s are weekly 5km, volunteer-led, timed runs which take place at 9am every Saturday in parks across the world.

There are over 2 million people registered to take part in parkrun globally.

In November 2017, Macclesfield Town Council called potential volunteers to a meeting to discuss how the idea of a parkrun for the town could become a reality. Following this meeting, a dedicated core event team was created and the finer event details were completed. Macclesfield parkrun launched in South Park taking place each Saturday and a year later, junior parkrun followed in Victoria Park each Sunday.

Macclesfield Town Council really believe in making activity the fun and easy option for people in the Town and parkrun fits perfectly with this ethos. The Town Council are proud to support both parkrun and Junior parkrun in the town.

Anyone wishing to take part in the Macclesfield parkrun needs to register on the parkrun website www.parkrun.org.uk where they will receive their personalised barcode. Runners take the barcode along to each parkrun so that they can obtain their finishing time.

As parkruns are volunteer-led, it is important that runners volunteer occasionally to enable the event to continue. This can be done through the website.
