Pocket Park at Bus station

Improving a derelict area of land next to the bus station, in the heart of the town centre.

As Cheshire East’s second largest town, Macclesfield is a key focus for regeneration activity.

There have been a number of initiatives already completed in and around the town centre, and the Council is investing in an extensive programme of activity in the area.

The Bus Station ‘Pocket Park’

Work is now underway to improve a derelict area of land next to the bus station, in the heart of the town centre. The aim is to improve this key gateway into the town and to transform it into a ‘pocket park’ to significantly enhance the visual appearance of the area and for the local community to use.

The project will include natural, yorkstone paving, new planting and greenery, a new specimen tree (the current one will be replaced), new railings as well as benches to allow south facing seating. We are going to refurbish and reuse those removed from the Castle St improvement scheme to save on costs and prevent waste
