Macclesfield Town Council celebrating Older Person’s Day

Older Person’s Day takes place on Monday 1st October and Macclesfield Town Council is hosting a complimentary afternoon tea from 12-2pm at Belong Care Village, for older people aged 65 and over to celebrate.

Macclesfield Town Council is working with Belong Care Village, Age UK Cheshire East and Live at Home Macclesfield to encourage older residents who will benefit from an afternoon of good food, company and entertainment to register for the event, as space is limited.

Helena Gowler, Community Engagement Officer for Macclesfield Town Council commented that

‘We try to offer events and activities accessible to as many people as possible. We noticed that although we offer a lot for young families, we don’t offer so much for older people. We decided to arrange a complimentary afternoon tea to provide a few hours of company and good food and we will be using it as a chance to find out what other activities people would like to see taking place. We don’t see this as a one off, we would like it to inform other choices we make about events and ideas’

‘We are thrilled to be working with Belong Macclesfield, Age UK Cheshire East and Live at Home on this event. We hope that by working in partnership, we can reach as many people as possible.’

If you would like to come along, please book your free place by 10th September, by calling Macclesfield Town Council on 01625 374142 or emailing helena.gowler@macclesfield-tc.gov.uk

Places are on a first come, first served basis and if this first event proves popular, Macclesfield Town Council will be looking at offering something similar on a more regular basis.
