Macclesfield Lantern Parade

Sat 20th Jan 2024, 5:00pm

Help us push back the long dark winter nights and join us for our lantern walk.

With short days and long nights it can be hard to get out and socialise during the winter months. Although the Christmas lights have come down we want to keep our streets bright for just a little bit longer and offer the opportunity to come together for a free evening of light, music and community.

The parade will set off from the Silk Museum near Park Green at 5:00pm on Saturday 20th January, so we recommend gathering there from about 4:30pm. The parade will then head up Mill Street towards Market Place, turn left onto Chestergate and then head for Christ Church where a hot drinks reception will be held inside the church and there will be light-up performances in the grounds.

ArtSpace and the Silk Museum will be holding free lantern-making workshops in the run up to the event for you to make your own or you can download your own lantern-making worksheet by clicking on the documents link to the right of this page.
