Macclesfield Town Council has issued a large community grant to Aftermath100, a not for profit organisation set up to mark the centenary of the signing of the Armistice of the Great War, the celebration of the end of the war and the commemoration of those who suffered.

A grant of £1,976.09 was handed over to Trevor Druce, the Event Manager for Macc PeaceFest, a 3 day event taking place on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd September at Christchurch. Timed to coincide with World Peace Day on the 21st September, it will be a family weekend of commemorations and celebrations with food, live music, entertainment, exhibitions and activities for all the family. For more information on the event, people can visit www.aftermath100.org

Trevor Druce, Founder of Aftermath100 said,

‘It is a great pleasure to receive this cheque from Macclesfield Town Council, and for its continued support of MaccPeaceFest. As a community, I believe it is important we work together to commemorate the centenary of the end of WW1, and celebrate the relative peace we live in today. The importance of remembering the fallen cannot be overstated, but it is equally important to acknowledge the courage of the brave men and women currently serving with our armed forces.’

Helena Gowler, Community Engagement Officer for Macclesfield Town Council commented that

‘It is fantastic that the community grant issued to Aftermath 100 by Macclesfield Town Council will go on to support such a meaningful community event. If your charity or community group are thinking of creating a new project or event, get in touch with us to have a chat about how a community grant may be able to support your ideas.’
