Town Centre Recovery Working Group
Updates on the working group.
Background
The working group was established August 2020 in response to the Covid 19 pandemic.

A large online forum was held in Jan 21 open to all and 100 interested parties attended. From this the Recovery Plan was established with actions and aspirations.
Five subgroups were set each with its own chair and members which held meetings outside of the TCRWG meetings but brought feedback and updates.

Updates
The TCRWG met on 30th January 2025.
Actions made from the Meeting:
The Terms of Reference were updated to change the word ‘recovery’ to ‘regeneration’, to reflect that the recovery phase dur to the pandemic are mostly over and to look forward.
The aims were updated as follows:
- Identify and prioritise key areas for regeneration, including infrastructure improvements, business development, cultural initiatives, and public spaces.
- Engage with local residents, businesses, and other stakeholders together input and build consensus.
- Secure funding and support from local, regional, and national government, as well as private-sector partners, for regeneration projects.
- Ensure that regeneration efforts are inclusive, sustainable, and benefit the entire community.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of regeneration initiatives and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.
A final update will be produced on the recovery action plan.
The group will once again carry out a residents/visitors survey and a survey for local businesses to collect views and then decide if new subgroups were necessary. The surveys will be available online, paper copies and there will also be focus groups held around the town.
